Dr Gerard Bayley

Dr Bayley is a Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon holding dual fellowships in General Surgery, 1999, and Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, 2003. He provides a comprehensive Plastic & Reconstructive Service with particular expertise in (1) Breast Surgery including immediate and delayed reconstruction, (2) Melanoma management and (3) Post-bariatric weight loss surgery.

Dr Bayley likes to take the time to ensure patients understand what is involved in each stage of the treatment process and takes pride in providing a full service from preoperative  consultations through post-operative care to ongoing surveillance.

For over 20 years, Dr Bayley has been a visiting Plastic Surgeon at the Princess Alexandra Hospital where he has provided a comprehensive public Plastic & Reconstructive Service to Brisbane South including Head and Neck Surgery, Hand Surgery and Skin Cancer Management with a special interest in Melanoma management. He continues to be a vital part of the Princess Alexandra Melanoma Unit, a world class unit on the cutting edge of melanoma management and research.

He is an active member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons. He coordinated the training program for the state’s plastic surgical trainees for ten years, served as Regional Chairman of the Board of Plastic Surgery for eight years and is currently an Examiner.

Dr Bayley is Director of the Plastic Surgery Unit at the Greenslopes Private Hospital where he has conducted a private practice for 20 years, has been on the Medical Advisory Committee for 11 years serving as the Chair of the committee for the last 5 years.
